Questions

Everything Else You Might Ask.

Who writes the content — you or us?

We do, unless you would like to. Some brokerages hand us their old website and three sentences about what they want, and we take it from there. Others are involved in every heading. Both work, and both end up with the same standard of result — the only difference is how much of your time it takes.

The more you tell us, the closer the first draft lands to what is in your head. Give us nothing and we will still work it out, and we will ask rather than guess wherever it matters.

How many rounds of revisions do we get?

As many as it takes. We do not count them. Your site goes live when you are happy with it, not when a contract decides the third round was the last one.

What happens to our Google rankings and our old page URLs?

They come with you, and then they improve. We map every old page to its new home and redirect it, so the traffic and the ranking history you have built up over the years follow you across instead of dying at the old address. It is one of the most common ways a rebuild quietly goes wrong, which is why we treat the redirect map as part of the build rather than something to look at afterwards.

Porting is only the floor, though. The new site is faster, properly structured and built to be understood by search engines in a way most brokerage websites simply are not — so brokerages generally do not land where they were. They land higher.

Will our site actually rank — and show up in ChatGPT?

Both are built in from the start, because they are no longer the same job. Ranking on Google and Bing still comes down to the fundamentals done properly: fast pages, clean structure, real page titles and descriptions, correct headings, a sitemap that reflects live inventory, and structured data on every boat so a search engine knows it is looking at a specific yacht with a specific price in a specific place rather than an anonymous page of text.

Being quoted by an AI answer engine is a different problem. ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Google's AI answers do not rank a list of links — they read pages and repeat what they find. So your pages are written and marked up to be read that way: one clear subject per page, the important facts near the top rather than buried under scroll-triggered marketing, and specifics stated plainly instead of implied by a photograph.

The pay-off is that when a buyer asks an assistant about a 2019 Grand Banks in Annapolis, or which brokerage handles Nordhavns on the east coast, your listings and your brokerage are the material it is answering from. Very few brokerage websites are currently built to be read at all, which is exactly why it is worth doing now.

Do we keep our domain and our email?

Yes. The domain is yours and stays yours — we simply point it at the new site when you are ready to go live. Your email carries on exactly as it does now; we are careful with the records that matter to it, and we do the DNS work with you rather than leaving you to it.

What do you actually need from us?

Less than you would expect. Your logo and brand assets if you have them, a way into your inventory feed, and a sense of what you like. Everything else we can take from your existing site. From there it is under 30 days to launch.

What if our inventory is not in Boats Group?

Then we connect whatever you do use — IYBA, Rightboat, BoatDealers.ca, your own MLS feed, or several at once, which is more common than people think. And if you have no feed at all, you can run your inventory straight from our admin.

Who looks after the site after it launches?

We do. Hosting, updates, fixes and improvements are all part of the subscription — there is no separate maintenance retainer and no hourly rate for a broken link. If something is wrong, tell us and we will fix it.

And anything you would rather change yourself, you can, in three clicks, without calling us at all.
